Wastewater Collection
Collection System
The wastewater collection system in Silverton carries sanitary sewerage from sinks, tubs, toilets, and other household and commercial building drains to the wastewater treatment plant. The collection system is made up of pipelines of various sizes ranging from the 4-inch diameter residential service line to the 30-inch interceptor line that discharges into the wastewater plant. The collection system consists of a total of 30 miles of pipelines.
In addition there are eight lift stations that pump sewerage from low areas up to higher elevation piping that can then flow by gravity to the treatment plant. The Public Works Maintenance Division has responsibility for maintenance of the wastewater collection system except for lift stations, which are maintained by Water Quality Division staff.
