It is the mission of Silverton Community Area Network (SCAN-TV) to create an enhanced sense of community by advancing the civic, cultural, spiritual, and educational interests of the people, their government, and educational institutions through locally controlled and supported public access television.

The community's access to television is a logical extension of First Amendment rights to the most widely used and powerful communications technology of our day. With PEG access television, local people learn to speak for themselves through programs they produce for the cable system.

Broadcasts
Regular meetings of the Silverton City Council, Planning Commission, and Budget Committee are broadcast live on SCAN –TV on Channel 10. City Council meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Planning Commission meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. Budget Committee meetings vary but generally begin in May and run through the end of June.
