The Department of Community Development is comprised of the Planning Division, Building Division, Code Enforcement Division, and Silver Trolley as well as providing staff support to appointed commissions, boards, and committees.
Planning Division
It is the mission of the Planning Division to facilitate land use planning efforts for the community. This division coordinates and processes land use applications that require action from staff or from elected and appointed bodies within state mandated time frames and consistent with local, state, and federal regulations and prepares comprehensive documents that further the community's vision and implements long-range planning efforts. The Planning Division also provides staff support to the City Council, Planning Commission, and Historic Landmarks Commission.
Building Division
It is the mission of the Building Division to facilitate the construction of approved development projects and provide helpful and reliable development information to the public. This division provides a one-stop permit center for construction projects that includes reviewing plans, issuing permits, and conducting inspections consistent with the building safety codes, zoning code, and city municipal code.
Code Enforcement
It is the mission of the Code Enforcement Division to enforce community livability standards by responding to complaint calls with appropriate follow-up actions that lead to code compliance.
Silver Trolley
It is the mission of the
Silver Trolley to provide access to dial-a-ride transporation in the City of Silverton and its Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).
