The Planning Division provides current and long-range planning services by:
- Administering the comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, geographic information system mapping database, and other city ordinances in a uniform, fair, and consistent manner
- Coordinating with city land use policies, regulations, and other legislation to ensure developments are consistent with the city's standards, policies, and plans that enhance the quality and character of the community
- Analyzing existing conditions and future trends in transportation, land use, housing, recreation, natural resources, community services, and economic development
- Providing administrative support to the Planning Commission, Historic Landmarks Commission and other committees
