Silverton Elections
The city recorder serves as the city elections officer by taking applications for the position of mayor and council member and preparing the oaths of office for elected officials. Regular city elections are held at the same times and places as biennial general state elections and in accordance with applicable state elections laws.

Eligibility
To be eligible for an elected city office, the candidate must be a registered voter and have resided in the city during the 12 months immediately preceding the election. No person may be a candidate for the offices of mayor and council member at the same election. By City Charter, candidates filing by petition will need to obtain no fewer than 20 elector signatures.

Candidates filing by declaration must pay a fee of $50 at the time the paperwork is submitted to the city elections officer. The fee was established by Council through Resolution No. 04-02. View links that provide prospective candidates with the instructions for the City of Silverton's election process, the state elections forms, and the manuals for elections and campaign finance from the State of Oregon Elections Division.

Please contact City Hall Administration at (503) 873-6117 for further information.
