Within the City Manager's Office, Communications supports the City of Silverton’s commitment to transparent, timely, and accessible communication with residents, businesses, community partners, and visitors. Communications serves as a central resource for sharing information about City services, programs, projects, initiatives, and opportunities for community involvement.

Through strategic communication, the division helps residents stay informed, supports public engagement, and ensures the City’s information is accurate, consistent, and accessible across multiple platforms.

Macy Mulholland, Communications Manager

Macy Mulholland has served the City of Silverton since June 2024, leading the City's communications, branding, and public engagement efforts. In her role, she oversees strategic communications, digital media, public information, and community outreach, helping connect residents with the services, projects, and initiatives that shape the Silverton community.

Prior to joining the City, Macy worked in internal communications for Salem-Keizer Public Schools, where she developed communication strategies and supported organizational engagement across one of Oregon's largest school districts. She earned her bachelor's degrees in Public Relations and Advertising from the University of Oregon, bringing a strong foundation in strategic communication, storytelling, and public engagement to her work.

Having grown up in the Silverton community, Macy is passionate about serving the place she has long called home. She enjoys building meaningful connections between local government and the community while helping share the stories that make Silverton a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.

Community Engagement and Public Information

Effective communication is an essential part of local government service. The Communications Manager works to make City information easier to understand and access while creating opportunities for residents to learn about City operations, participate in community discussions, and stay connected with local government.

Communications supports efforts to:

  • Provide timely updates on City projects, services, and decisions.
  • Share opportunities for community participation and feedback.
  • Highlight the work of City departments and employees.
  • Maintain consistent messaging and visual identity across City communications.
