Special Event Permits

Per City of Silverton Municipal Code 12.55:


“Special event” means any temporary or ongoing activity that occurs on public property that affects the ordinary use of public property including but not limited to public streets, rights-of-way, sidewalks, city-owned facilities, and other public property that is reasonably expected to cause or result in more than 50 people gathering on public property; is reasonably expected to have an uncommon impact on such public property; and/or is reasonably expected to require the provision of public services.

The deadline for submittal of a special event permit is no less than 45 calendar days prior to the proposed day of the special event. A special event application submitted less than 45 calendar days may be denied as untimely. The city manager has discretion as to whether an application deemed untimely shall be approved.


Examples include, but are not limited to a:

  • Parade
  • Festival
  • Market
  • Concert
  • Block party
  • Car show
  • Bike race
  • Walk/Run

Picnic areas at all City parks are first-come, first-served. 

To reserve picnic space at Coolidge-MClaine, Town Square, or Old Mill park for an event under 50 people without alcohol or amplified sound, use the Facility Reservation (under 50) Permit Form.

To reserve space at any other park (including the Westfield skate park or pickleball courts) OR for an event of more than 50 people, please use the Special Events Permit Packet.

Alcohol is strictly prohibited at all City parks without a permit. See  Special Events Permit Packet.
