Westfield Site Improvements Project
Summary
The Westfield site serves as a recreational hub for the Silverton community, housing the Silverton 50+ Center and the Judy Schmidt Memorial Skate Park. This versatile area offers spaces for active recreation, community gatherings, and leisure for residents of all ages. To enhance its amenities and expand its offerings, the site is currently undergoing significant improvements aimed at meeting growing community needs while improving accessibility, safety, and enjoyment.
A key part of the project is the addition of six new pickleball courts and the installation of permanent restrooms to replace the existing portable restroom. Funding for these courts is provided in part by a competitive $750,000 State Parks grant. The project also includes upgrades to the existing dog park. These include expanding the fenced play area, creating separate zones for small and large dogs, and adding amenities.
Parking lot improvements are also part of the plan, designed to accommodate more visitors. Changes include reconfiguring the lot for better traffic flow, adding more parking spaces, and upgrading stormwater management systems to meet environmental standards.
Once completed, these upgrades will turn the Westfield site into a more welcoming, vibrant, and accessible community space for Silverton residents and visitors.
