National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign designed to strengthen neighborhood connections and build positive relationships between residents and law enforcement. Traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out events take place across the country and often include block parties, cookouts, festivals, safety demonstrations, and activities for all ages.
This year, Silverton is combining National Night Out with the City’s Emergency Preparedness Fair to bring neighbors, community partners, and local organizations together for an evening focused on building relationships, increasing safety awareness, and helping our community prepare for emergencies. Join the Silverton Police Department, Silverton Fire, and Public Works for a fun-filled evening of community connection, safety education, and family-friendly activities on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
As part of this year’s celebration, community members are invited to join us for an evening of connection and fun while learning more about the resources available to help keep our community safe. Emergency preparedness vendors and community partners will be on-site to provide information, resources, and education to help individuals and families become better prepared.
Enjoy free hot dogs prepared by Silver Dogs and a sweet treat from Kona Ice while supplies last. Families can participate in activities for all ages, including face painting and the Police Department’s dunk tank, where community members can watch staff take their turn in the splash zone.
Guests can also get an up-close look at police and fire vehicles, equipment, and resources. The Fire Department will be on-site with apparatus and activities, including a chance for kids and community members to enjoy a fire hose demonstration. Public Works staff and vehicles will also be present to showcase the important services they provide throughout our community.
Whether you’re interested in learning more about emergency preparedness, meeting the people who serve our community, connecting with your neighbors, or simply enjoying a free evening of family-friendly fun, there will be something for everyone.
