Coolidge McClaine Park Closure

April 06, 2026 | Coolidge McClaine Park - Dates for Tree Removal

Coolidge McClaine Park remains temporarily closed due to damage from the December 2025 storm. A professional assessment identified trees that require removal or pruning to ensure public safety, and this work is now underway.

All park trees have been assessed, inventoried, and prioritized based on safety risk.

A biologist and bird surveyor will be involved before and during work to help minimize environmental impacts. The City is also working to reuse removed wood where possible. Some materials have already been donated to Marion County Youth Corrections, and additional sustainability efforts will be considered in future phases.

The park is closed to the public while this work is being completed.

March 19, 2026 | Coolidge McClaine Park - Closed for Tree Removal Until May 2026

Coolidge McClaine Park remains temporarily closed due to damage caused by the December 2025 storm. Following the storm, the City contracted with an urban forester to conduct a hazard assessment of the park’s trees.

The assessment has been completed; trees were inventoried, and hazards were identified and prioritized. The transfer resolution and contract for Harrity Tree Specialists to complete the removal were approved by the City Council at the March 18th meeting.

For public safety, the park and surrounding areas will remain closed while this work is completed. At this time, the closure is expected to remain in place through May 2026.

We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to safely restore and reopen the park. Updates will be shared as the project progresses.
